The club is the home of the famous West of Ireland Open amateur championship played every Easter since 1923. It has hosted many other prestigious events including the Home Internationals, the Irish Close and the Irish Professional Match play Championship.
The course boasts one of the most scenic locations in Ireland perched on cliffs that tower over three expansive beaches overlooking the Atlantic. The panoramic mountain and ocean views are spectacular but they pale in comparison to the stunning scenery provided by Benbulben, an enormous limestone rock formation that the area is known for.
Besides the great views, the golf course offers an excellent challenge. The traditional links layout, designed by Harry Colt, utilizes the natural contours of the dune-covered landscape rather than moving large amounts of earth during its design. The end result is a course filled with dramatic undulations, elevated tees, and raised plateau greens.
As soon as you arrive you will be made to feel extremely welcome and you can use the Driving Range or Short Game Practice area prior to your game of golf. Golfers can avail of the 18 Hole Championship Links, the 9 Hole Bomore Links.
After your round, enjoy a meal in the Watch House Restaurant or visit our bar and let our Bar Staff help you to unwind in the traditional Irish way
